Congratulations to the SHU Racing Team at Silverstone 2026

A massive congratulations to SHU Racing for another successful year at the Formula Student competition at Silverstone.  The team placed 13th overall and would have been placed much higher if it were not for the failure of a bought in electrical power system component.

This is another amazing result for the team who were also the second team to make it through all the scrutineering stages required prior to competing in the event.

As always, we are so proud to sponsor this team and to help them turn their design into reality and a fully functioning race car.

We have sponsored the team since 2016 supplying parts, materials, design assistance when needed, and most recently 2 Triumph Daytona motorcycles from which the engines will be used to power the car from the 2027 event onwards with a spare engine as backup. 

It was a huge privilege to be invited down to Silverstone again to see the team complete this huge achievement, it was such a shame to be let down by third party equipment which stopped the car during the timed runs on Sunday.  The car looked magnificent and the choice of paint colour was inspired, a beautiful car, can’t wait to see what next year brings with the new power plant.

It’s wonderful to see some of the components manufactured here at IIDEA by our placement student from Sheffield Hallam during her year in industry with us.  We are also delighted to learn she will be team principal for the next year, very well done!  We look forward to continuing to help the team improve the car over the next year.
