The IIDEA sponsored Sheffield Hallam University Student Racing Team (SHU Racing) competed at the 2017 Student Racing Event at Silverstone in July with a fantastic result. We had sponsored SHU Racing during the previous 2016 season and were honoured to be asked to sponsor them again in 2017. Having supplied an increased number of parts for their vehicle for this new 2017 season it was a real treat to see how the new vehicle fitted together and performed in the tasks at the event.
This international event draws student from all over the globe and it was fantastic to see some of the stunning machinery manufactured almost completely by students for the event. There were some amazingly beautiful cars created by the students from all the universities but seeing the SHU Racing Team car made us particularly proud of this brilliant local university that has help educate many of our current and previous employees. The team finished 23rd overall which was a remarkable achievement as this was the first year they had made it through scrutineering into the competition proper - well done to all of you!
