IIDEA Exhibit at the Global Manufacturing Festival Sheffield June 2014
Updated: Dec 4, 2019
It is interesting to look back through some of our old news stories and think about how IIDEA Limited has changed and grown since some of these articles were first written. We have undergone significant changes as has the Advanced Manufacturing Park on which we are based which has seen a big influx of some significant engineering companies from both the UK and abroad. Since this article was first published we have undertaken five ISO 9001 audits with three being to the latest 2015 edition of the standard. We have set up from scratch a UKAS accredited testing laboratory which one of our major customers purchased from us lock, stock and barrel. We have bought and installed several new machines to complement our portfolio and bring new services to the table and have said goodbye to some well-loved machines and some members of our team. I is interesting to think what the next five years might hold and how far we will have developed by then!
IIDEA Limited exhibited at the Global Manufacturing Festival (GMF) Sheffield June 2014 at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), Catcliffe, Rotherham. This is a fantastic event for technology companies in and around the region to showcase their skills, products and services to the wider manufacturing community.
IIDEA Limited are one of the pioneer businesses to set up on the AMP. Our operations have expanded from our original 800 square foot unit located in the Technology Centre, to now include an additional 4000 square foot freehold manufacturing facility equipped with some impressive people and machining and technical capabilities. Our business is “expertise led” counting no fewer than seven, degree level staff members in a work force of ten, as well as highly experienced machine technicians.
Our design capabilities are based around the latest 3D CAD/CAM systems by SOLIDWORKS, and we specialise in taking difficult to do one-off projects and prototype designs and turning them into finished products. We place a high premium on the contributions of our people above everything, and we aim to differentiate our business through the quality of our people. We match our people with equally high-quality machining capabilities, including DOOSAN and Haas machining centres, alongside modern lathes. We have also invested in sawing capacity, small-scale heat treatment, materials analysis, and other facilities.
In the longer term, we aim to have established a company with a reputation for technical expertise allied to a great customer experience with high levels of satisfaction. We are serving customers in aerospace, medical, and oil and gas markets, and have a number of very strong customer collaborations with co-located businesses on the AMP that underpin our core business. We are ISO9001 approved and work with many blue-chip customers to exacting standards.
Our belief is that customers will benefit from working in collaborative partnership with IIDEA Limited. We place strong emphasis on customer service and keeping a “can do” approach and attitude at the centre of our business philosophy. We anticipate further growth in 2014/15 as our recent capital expenditure programme translates into increased capability to serve our customers. The business has been supported through the RGF programme, and enjoys the commitment and long-term support of the business founders – Martin Burnham, of Independent Forgings & Alloys, and David Campbell, formerly a senior partner with top five accounting firm Grant Thornton. We look forward to sharing more of our story with you at the Global Manufacturing Festival event.
