Tom and Matt spend last Friday afternoon at SHU Racing to learn more about the design and evolution of the team´s entry to the 2018 Formula Student competition. As sponsors and keen followers of the 2017 team we were very interested to learn about the developments in the next car and see what new features were being considered to help the team keep moving forward. We were not disappointed!
A completely new chassis design includes an enhanced driver environment to make life easier for the driver during some of the long sessions as well as helping to feel more a part of the vehicle. There are weight saving measures designed into the new chassis as well as the use of interesting light-weight materials. The desire to have the car ready much earlier this year should allow ironing out of issues through shake-down sessions well before the Formula Student Finals at Silverstone next year.
